Parade of Hearts Reveal Day: A Moment I’ll Never Forget

Today is the day.

After weeks of painting, planning, and patiently waiting, I can finally share my heart for the 2026 Parade of Hearts.

From Blank Canvas to Finished Heart

When I first stood in front of the blank white sculpture, it felt both exciting and a little overwhelming. A piece like this holds so much potential, and I wanted to create something that felt meaningful — something that would connect with people who pass by it.

There were hours of planning. Thinking through how the design would wrap around the form. And then came the painting — layer by layer, watching the heart slowly come to life.

Seeing it now, finished, is a surreal feeling.

The Meaning Behind My Design

My heart was inspired by connection.

The things that bring us together — music, sports, nature, and the shared experiences that shape a community. Kansas City carries such a strong sense of identity and belonging, and I wanted my design to reflect that.

The heart itself represents the “Heart of America,” while the circular elements surrounding it symbolize unity — a reminder that we are all connected in ways we may not always see.

This project celebrates not just art, but people. It’s about the stories, the culture, and the shared moments that make a place feel like home.

Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone

Part of this experience included something a little unexpected — recording a short video that will be linked to my sculpture through a QR code.

I’ll be honest, that part was outside my comfort zone. Painting feels natural to me. Talking about my work on camera? That was a different challenge.

But growth often happens in those uncomfortable moments. And even if the video isn’t perfect, it’s a real piece of this experience — just like the heart itself.

A City Full of Art

Soon, hearts will be placed all throughout Kansas City, creating a city-wide gallery for both locals and visitors to enjoy. With so many people coming to the city this year for the world cup in soccer, it’s exciting to be part of something that celebrates creativity on such a large scale.

I feel incredibly honored to be included among so many talented artists.

Grateful for This Moment

This experience has been one I'll always remember.

To have the opportunity to contribute something meaningful to the community, to share my work in a public space, and to be part of a project centered around connection — it’s truly special.

Thank you for following along on this journey. I can’t wait for you to see the heart in person.
