I can hardly put this into words… but I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected as an artist for the 2026 Parade of Hearts!
When the congratulations email arrived, I didn’t even get past the subject line before the tears started. I ran straight to tell my husband — completely overwhelmed with joy, shock, and gratitude. It was one of those life-changing moments you know you’ll never forget.

While I’m not allowed to share my heart concept yet, I can share this: being part of this project means more to me than I can express. I’ve admired the Parade of Hearts for years — not only for the beautiful artwork scattered across the region, but for what the project stands for.
The acceptance letter said:
“Your creativity, vision, and talent truly stood out among an incredible pool of submissions… This project shines because of artists like you, and we are honored to feature your work as part of this beloved tradition.”
Those words meant the world to me.

But what truly makes me proud to be part of this project is the heart behind it — the mission, the message, and the shared sense of community it brings to Kansas City and beyond.
As the Parade of Hearts team says so beautifully:
“Through pride in our communities, the richness of our cultures, and a deeply woven sense of purpose and connection, Parade of Hearts invites cities and counties across two states to come together in a shared artistic experience that celebrates unity, diversity, and resilience like no other.”
This vision is exactly why I am so honored to contribute my artwork. This project isn’t just about decorating a city — it’s about telling the story of who we are, what we value, and how art can bring people and communities together.

I love that the heart design itself includes a keyhole at the center — a symbol of openness, creativity, welcome, and connection. A reminder that art creates space for all of us.
I absolutely love the concept behind this project, and I’m ecstatic — truly ecstatic — to be a part of it.

I can’t wait to share my heart with you as I paint it over the coming months. Thank you for being here with me… this is a true honor.
