One of the most meaningful parts of being an artist isn’t just creating the work — it’s seeing how that work lives on in other people’s lives. Over the years, I’ve been incredibly humbled by the messages, notes, and emails I receive from clients after they’ve opened a package, given a gift, or hung a painting in their home.
These moments are reminders of why I paint.
Art as a Gift, Art as a Memory
Some of my favorite messages come from people who purchase art as a gift. There’s something deeply special about trusting an artist with a moment that matters — a birthday, a remembrance, a celebration.
One client shared this after giving a painting to her granddaughter:
“Yesterday was my granddaughter Isabella’s 15th birthday. She opened the package and absolutely LOVED the painting! Her mother told me they were redecorating her room and the colors were perfect. I knew she would love it.”— Mary
Knowing a piece of art fits so perfectly into someone’s life — their space, their age, their story — is incredibly rewarding.
The Joy of Owning Original Art
Original artwork has a presence that’s hard to describe until you live with it. For some collectors, owning an original painting is a meaningful milestone.
“I’m SO happy to get this as it gives me my first opportunity to own one of your original watercolors… We enjoy the orioles that nest in our area every spring.”— Barb
When art reflects something personal — a bird outside the window, a season of life, a familiar feeling — it becomes more than décor. It becomes connection.

Sometimes the messages are short and simple, but no less powerful:

Those words never get old.
Art That Touches the Heart
Pet portraits, in particular, carry a lot of emotion. When someone tells me a portrait truly resonated, I hold that close.

And then there are messages that leave me sitting quietly for a moment, just taking it in:

Why I Keep Painting
These messages are gentle reminders that art matters. That it can bring joy, comfort, celebration, and even healing. Whether it’s a gift, an original watercolor, or a deeply personal commission, I feel incredibly honored to be part of these moments.
