Yesterday, I had the joy of painting a new set of cheerful windows for Boba Tea Hive, and it turned out to be such a sweet collaboration—pun fully intended! When I first met the owners, they described our meeting as “serendipitous.” As it turns out, they had just developed a new line of frozen scoopable cheesecakes and were looking for a creative way to promote them. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
Their enthusiasm was contagious, and I was genuinely excited to help bring their vision to life with bright, fun window art that would catch the attention of passersby. We decided to feature a couple of their new desserts—like the cinnamon roll and strawberry pop tart cheesecakes—alongside two colorful boba drinks. These “bee-licious” treats deserved equally delightful artwork to match!
Before I ever pick up a paintbrush, there’s quite a bit of behind-the-scenes preparation. I always begin with a digital mock-up on my iPad so the client and I can collaborate and make adjustments before anything is painted. Once we finalize the design, I often create full-scale paper drawings that I can transfer directly onto the window. I also premixed my paint colors the day before. This is a major time-saver on the day of the install, especially when it’s as hot as it was yesterday!
The extra effort in preparation always pays off. The end result was a vibrant and whimsical window display that highlights Boba Tea Hive’s new offerings in a fresh and inviting way. I’m so happy with how it turned out, and even happier knowing it supports a local business doing something new and fun!
If you’re near Liberty, Missouri, be sure to swing by and check out the art—and of course, treat yourself to one of their new frozen cheesecakes. They’re as delicious as they look!
